The Wizard of Oz brings L. Frank Baum's much-loved story to the stage, following Dorothy from Kansas to the Land of Oz and along the Yellow Brick Road. Based on Baum's 1900 novel and the celebrated 1939 film, the musical pairs a familiar adventure with classic songs including “Over the Rainbow,” “We're Off to See the Wizard,” and “If I Only Had a Brain.”
The story's Kansas connection gives this performance a special local resonance: Dorothy's journey begins at home before carrying her into a world of friendship, courage, and discovery. The 1939 film won Academy Awards for Best Original Song and Best Original Score, and the story remains a favorite for audiences across generations. The production is scheduled at The White Theatre - Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City from July 3 through July 25, 2027, with the event date listed as July 25.
